Eleanor Wardlaw, a tenant of Bagatelle Court, has been donating blood for over 40 years. In most years she has donated at least twice, and clocked up her hundredth pint in 2011. Countless numbers of people have benefitted from Eleanor’s kindness by being a committed blood donor over such a long period of time.
Eleanor received an award for this milestone from the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service in October 2012. She can be seen with her brother Robin proudly holding her engraved silver Quaich which was presented at an award ceremony in Glasgow City Chambers.
In 2013 Eleanor decided it was time to retire as a blood donor and was presented with a framed Retirement Scroll at another award ceremony in Glasgow City Chambers. She can be seen on her return to Bagatelle Court proudly holding her framed Scroll in the company of Charles Young, Chief Executive of Greenock Medical Aid Society.
Charles said “I am very proud of Eleanor for being such a caring and thoughtful person by regularly donating blood over a 40 year period. She fully deserves the recognition she has received from the Blood Transfusion Service. I am sure there are many people who possibly owe their life to Eleanor because they have benefitted from the blood that she had donated.”
